“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” John 15:4

In our world, the phrase DIY (Do-it-yourself) has become extremely popular and many of us have the talent to fix or create things by ourselves. When our DIY projects look good, they make us look good. The more we do "hands-on" projects, the better we get at DIY.

But life is not a DIY project! Christianity a lifelong journey spent with our Lord and Savior, and we must allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us to be more like Jesus. Following Jesus is not a one-person journey, it's meant to be shared with like-minded believers. Being connected to a church body and fellowshipping with other Christ followers will help us grow and mature spiritually. If we remain in Him, the Holy Spirit will remain in us throughout our day, and He will be a part of everything we do. Invite Jesus to join you everywhere you go! Ask Him to join you as you run errands, craft, paint, draw, and fix things.

But there is one requirement we must all do individually. No other person can do it for us. God's Holy Spirit will guide us, but the scriptures tell us that following Jesus is a personal choice, one we make individually. If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.'" Romans 10:9

Life isn’t just a gift from God; it’s something we do with God. When we follow Jesus, we get to "do life" with the Creator of life! God also gives us the privilege of having a personal relationship with Him. He promises to give us an abundant life, but to obtain it, we must put always put Christ first, above everything else in our lives. Following Jesus means abounding in the fullness of His joy and allowing Him to strengthen our soul and body.

A "DIY" we should all do every morning is to pray, read, & obey God's Word. Following Jesus means connecting with our Creator each day. Jesus made sure to spend time alone with God because He knew it was a vital part of His life, and the same is true for us! If we want to be fruitful and experience God's presence, we must remain in Him, learn from Him, and do life together with Him!

Following Jesus means remembering the instructions Jesus gave us; “Remain in me, as I also remain in you."
