God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of His blood—to be received by faith. Romans 3:25
Jesus' death completely atoned for our sin—paying a price too high for us to pay. His sacrifice satisfied God's requirement, and our Heavenly Father accepted it as sufficient payment for humanity’s sins—Christ's resurrection is living proof of His victory over death, the death we rightfully deserved.
A few years ago, we visited some friends of ours that moved to North Carolina. Their front yard had a big tree trunk in it, one they were in the process of removing. When they pulled it out, a large rock was imbedded in the tree roots. When they lifted the stump, a piece of that rock broke off. To me, that rock resembled Jesus' empty tomb with the rock rolled away. I took it home, cleaned it up, and decorated it as a tomb with the stone rolled away. Then I placed it in our yard as a daily reminder of Jesus' resurrection. Every time we look at it, it visibly reminds us that our Lord and Savior lives!
We are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own... Philippians 3:20-21 (NLT)
Easter wasn’t the end of Jesus’ story, nor is it ours. Christ’s resurrection changes everything—it effects our eternal destination and our daily life. Faith in Jesus’ resurrection should fill our lives with hope and anticipation, allowing us to rejoice over each day we spend on earth. Christ's resurrection should remind us that our own death isn't an end, it's our transition to eternal life. Jesus' sacrifice conquered death, and it purchased eternal life for everyone who believes!
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
Always remember who was pierced for you. At the cross, Jesus exchanged His perfection for our punishment!
