A Box of Opportunities

Be very careful, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity , because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16

How is this year treating you so far? Better yet, how are you treating 2025? It's only March, but a lot of things have already happened at our house. The Holy Spirit gave me a word for this year, and it was “focus.” To put that word into practice, I intentionally focused on viewing each day as a unique gift from God. This focused view helped me see my calendar differently. Instead of seeing a page full of numbered boxes, now I see my calendar as a box of opportunities. Now, I see each day on my calendar as an opportunity to deepen my connection with God.

Each day is a precious gift from God, given to us because He loves us. A 24-hour day is filled with opportunities to share, and reflect, to love and connect, so we must embrace this one-of-a-kind-gift before it's gone. Regardless of how full my calendar gets, or what struggles and interruptions come my way, I want to spend time seeking God's wisdom and guidance. God knows what's best for us, including how me manage our time.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)

We have the freedom to decide how to utilize each day, but the proper use of our time can be our gift back to God. We were created to glorify our Creator, and when we use our time wisely it pleases Him. The Ancient of Days is our Giver of Life, and He gives us the gift of life 365 days a year. Christ follower, on your busiest day, take time to glorify your Heavenly Father!

Some of you say, “We can do whatever we want to!” But I tell you not everything may be good or helpful. 1 Corinthians 10:23 (CEV)

Evaluate Every Opportunity:

• Is it practical (reasonable)?

• Does it align with God’s Word?

• Does it reflect God’s character?

• Does it bring comfort, security, and peace?

• Will it please, honor, and glorify God?

The next time you glance at your calendar, try to see each day as a "box of opportunities." But remember, all of them may not be beneficial.... it's OK to let some of them pass you by.
