His Good Pleasure

“For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure” Philippians 2:13 (ESV).
Have you ever wondered if your life is God’s good pleasure? I know I have many times... The Bible is filled with stories about the people God took good pleasure in. A common denominator in those stories is they all pleased Him through their faith, trust, and obedience. God poured His wisdom and knowledge into them when they earnestly sought Him. God's Word says our faith is what pleases God.
Without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Hebrews 11:6 (CSB)
Faith is a confidence and certainty in God's promises, believing God is who He says He is and believing He will do what He says. When we wrap our minds around God's truth, that is the beginning of His good pleasure in us. We must have faith that He loves us, and faith in His plans for us. We must also believe that He rewards those who seek (and follow) Him. He rewards us because He is our loving, generous, gracious, and merciful Heavenly Father! Believing these truths lay the groundwork of faith that pleases God.
Faith isn't intellectual knowledge; it's trusting God's promises and choosing to remain in His presence. Having a strong faith means asking Jesus to be the Lord over every area of our lives. It was by faith that your Christian life began, and by faith is how it will persevere until the end. But the best role model we have for a faith that pleases God is Jesus. The more we resemble His son, the more we please God. When Jesus spoke about His Heavenly Father, He said this, “he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.” John 8:29
Christ follower, keep your eyes on Jesus and continue to grow spiritually. Have faith, it pleases God!
