The Very Good YOU

"God saw all that He had made, and it was very good..." Genesis 1:31

God created everything very good, and He did it for His greater purpose. Think how many good, unwritten stories there are in the hearts of His people. Think about the good, encouraging words that will stir someone's heavy heart; the good, unspoken prayers that will move God's hand, and the very good news that will transform someone's life.

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,…” Hebrews 10:24 (ESV).

If we have children or grandchildren, do we want the best for them? Do we assure them that God created them and declared them to be good? Are we proud of them when they dream big and believe they can reach for the stars? Do we make sacrifices as we help them grow? Do we cry when they get hurt or stumble over life's obstacles? Of course we do, and it's no different for our Heavenly Father. He wants us to successfully navigate through life and to help others do the same. It saddens Him when we spiritually fail, but it gives Him great pleasure when we ask Him for help. It's a beautiful thought when we realize God has equipped us with ambitions, desires, talents, and abilities to help us live a very good life for His glory.

“Most truly I say to you, whoever exercises faith in me will also do the works that I do; and he will do works greater than these, because I am going to the Father.” John 14:12

Good works can't save us, but Christ followers are called to carry on Jesus' very good work of sharing the Gospel. Our world may be filled with problems, but creation is still good, and it still proclaims God's glory to the world. Our world doesn't understand but God's Word says He set us apart for a life of good deeds, and He has prepared the way for us to complete them. Christ follower, God's good treasure lives inside you, so be who He created you to be!

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

Be encouraged! Your good, good Father took the time to personally create you, and He didn't just create you good... He created you very good!
