Prince of Peace

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.” Isaiah 9:6-7
It's often said (and sung) that Christmas is "the most wonderful time of the year." It's a time when we fill our calendars, setting aside time for family and friends. It's a time for songs that spark memories of past holidays, and for attending special performances that celebrate the birth of JESUS.
But the Christmas season isn't always wonderful for everyone... It can remind us that someone we love dearly is gone (but not forgotten). Others have holiday memories filled with sadness because the love and peace Christmas should bring weren't present in their homes. But the good news for everyone about Christmas is that Jesus is the Prince of Peace, and He is alive in the hearts of those who have surrendered to Him. Christ will comfort, counsel, and encourage the heaviest of hearts, and He brings hope to the hopeless. When we're overwhelmed, He redirects our focus towards Him, so our faith and hope can be renewed.
Remember, He is standing strong on your behalf; He is for you, not against you, and the world's government rests on His mighty shoulders. Jesus is our Lord, Savior, and King, but Isaiah 9 tells us He is our, "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." He is light in the darkness, and He will remove our sadness (1 John 1:5). Jesus came to rescue the world that first Christmas, and He is still our rescuer today.
Jesus is the one who says that all of this is true. Now he says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus! Revelation 22:20 (ERV)
Christ is our Savior, our Messiah, and our soon-coming King! This Christmas, renew your heart with the hope only Jesus can bring. Remember that Jesus came that first Christmas because He loved us. Finally, if the holidays bring additional stress to your life, don't forget to ask God for His peace.
“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.” 2 Thessalonians 3:16
