Be a Real Christ Follower

Recently, I heard a sermon about being the same person everywhere you go. It's what many people would call "being real", and not fake. But everything in our world isn't always real, so being real is not something our world values. Being real is fundamental to all great relationships. But the most important relationship to be real in is our relationship with our Heavenly Father. But know this, Satan will try to destroy your close relationship with God by telling you to be deceptive (and lie) to your Heavenly Father.

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10

Satan loves to lie because he is the father of lies. He loves it when we lie because he knows we're speaking his native language! On the other hand, being real is based on being honest and telling the truth. Being real 24/7 has many elements, and we must be truthful in each of them to stay real. If we build our lives on a foundation of untruths it may fool someone, but it will never, ever fool God.

If you think you can fool God, you are only fooling yourselves. You will harvest what you plant. Galatians 6:7 (ERV)

Being saved (for real) means being real with God about our sin. Why? Because It's impossible to have a relationship with God if we're not being 100% honest with God. When God created us, He included a plan to have a close, personal relationship with us. When we get our relationship right with Him, it will become easier to have real relationships with others. God wants all our relationships to be sin-free, which means no lies included. None of us can hide the "real us" from God, so don't ever try to! The Lord created us in His image, and to be open, honest, and truthful... just like He is.

Be real. If we claim to be Christ followers, we must be real in our homes, the workplace, at church, and in the world.
