Walk in Victory

The Lord said to Moses, “Send some men to explore the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each ancestral tribe send one of its leaders." Numbers 13:1-2

The Israelites finally arrived at the border of the promised land God. The twelve tribal leaders Moses chose went in and explored the land for 40 days. When they returned, they brought back some of the land's fruit and reported it was flowing with milk and honey. However, ten of the men who entered were also fearful about the people and cities they saw in the promised land.

...they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. Numbers 13:32

Our own walk with the Lord can be like that sometimes... God gives us a clear direction for our life, but when we step out in faith, all we can see are the obstacles. Like Israel, we may even feel like our enemies outnumber us. The Israelites were afraid, and Numbers 14 says they were weeping and complaining. Some of them even thought it would be better to go back to Egypt! But Chapter 14 goes on to say two people in that initial exploration party did not feel the same way as everyone else.

Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had explored the land, tore their clothes and said to the entire Israelite assembly, “The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.” Numbers 14:7-9

God might be calling you into a land of promise, but when you "enter" you see the enemy at work. The entire nation was ready to turn around for the same reason, but Caleb and Joshua believed in God's promises. Not only did they believe, they had enough faith to feel the victory was assured.

Wherever God leads you today I pray you walk it out in victory. Walk in faith, knowing God is protecting you. Remember, God is with us no matter the size of the obstacle. If you're feeling surrounded by the enemy, don't be afraid, God has guaranteed the victory!
