God Hears You

I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. Psalm 40:1

It is hard to wait upon the Lord. A time of waiting can seem excruciating, especially when we allow anxiety, fear and doubt to creep in. Are you like me? Do you often want an answer right now! But that isn't how God works. The Lord answers our prayers in His timing, not ours. If your life seems like a giant "holding pattern", remember that God has you waiting for a reason, His reason!

Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. Psalm 37:7 (NLT)

Waiting for the Lord gets extremely hard when we see the ungodly prosper. Sometimes, the very person who has hurt us seems to be doing well. If we're not careful, our "old self" can rise up, making us wonder why the wicked are prospering and we aren't. We may even wonder why the Lord is allowing it... In those moments we must take those thoughts captive and hand them to Jesus.

Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. Romans 12:19

Christ follower, let the Lord deal with injustice. The truth is, the Lord will handle the matter much better than we can. We don't always know how the Lord resolves our problems, but He does. Years may pass, then out of the blue we learn how the Lord dealt with the person or situation that was causing us problems. Hearing the outcome, we realize God was at work the entire time, even when we didn't see it.

For me, handing my fears, anxieties, and resentment to the Lord is a gradual process. I give it to the Lord, but I find myself repeatedly taking them back. Eventually, I become spiritually exhausted. When I finally decide to let go, placing my problems in Jesus' hands relieves my burden. Trust God! Give Him your burdens, and the bitterness, anxiety and pain that go with them. To find true freedom, we must ask Jesus for help!

Pray, and ask God to help you give your burdens to Him. Then, enjoy the peace that comes from Jesus!
