Turn Back to God

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, Acts 3:19
Right now, our nation is facing a fantastic opportunity. Like Israel, I believe God wants our nation to repent and turn back to Him. We know God oversees who gets elected (the good and bad), but we must pray our newly elected officials will base their decisions on God's principals. It doesn't matter if it's a national, state, or local office, all of them must put God first to make things right. As Christ followers, our job is to pray for our leaders!
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 1 Timothy 2:1-2
The nation of Israel had to choose between following God and following idols. When they followed God they prospered, when they didn't, God judged them. Our nation may be at a similar crossroads. We may not be bowing to a stone statue (though some do) but many Americans idol is themselves. Selfishness is a HUGE false god. Right now, many people in America hope that our upcoming administration will be able to solve all our nation’s problems. But remember, many of the problems our country is experiencing have spiritual roots. We can't solve spiritual problems without God's help. Another thing to consider, no matter how good a leader's intentions may be, if they make godly decisions, they will face tremendous opposition from Satan.
Some people vote based on circumstantial issues, thinking that if a politician resolves them, it will make life on earth better. As God's people we must cast our votes based on the spiritual issues. But there is one issue that usually isn't highlighted, but it's very important to God; What is a nations stance on Israel? God's Word contains very clear messages about how we must view and treat Israel. How God views and treats our nation will depend on how we view and treat His nation and His chosen people. Here is just one of the many examples we find in scripture:
"I will bless those who bless you (Israel), and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." Genesis 12:3
To regain God's favor, America must do several things. Two of the main ones are turning back to God and supporting Israel. Pray that our nation will do both of them!
