Greater Works

“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in Me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” John 14:12
When Christ Followers read Jesus' words, “whoever believes in Me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things" it may sound a little strange. After all, how can we do greater works than Jesus? By traveling to places He never went (like the USA) and testifying about Him everywhere we go. These "good works" can't save us, but God's Word says He created in Jesus for good works—the work He planned for us long ago.
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
An important part of being a Christ follower is "working" for Jesus, but everything Jesus did always pointed others to the glory of His Father. Working for Jesus and staying in God’s Word builds our faith and equips us to point others toward Christ. God instilled a thirst in us that can’t be satisfied until we draw close to Him. Obeying and serving God are an outflow of loving God, and working for The Lord (serving) is a way to help quench our spiritual thirst. Our works must flow out of our love for Jesus, and our message of the hope we have in Christ will point people to Him. Think of yourself as a tool, or an instrument in God's mighty hand, one He wants to use to help others find forgiveness in Christ.
...may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Hebrews 13:21 (NLT)
God promises to give us everything we need to carry out and carry on His work. Each morning ask God to reveal the work He has planned for you that day. Then, stand back and watch God go before you and jump in when He prompts you.
