Taking Jesus With You

…And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:20

Recently, I was listening to a popular podcast, and a young man who would soon turn 18 contacted the show. He wanted to ask the show's host what to expect as he stepped into adulthood. One of his main fears was that he would no longer be under the protection of his parents... He was worried that if he made any mistakes, he would suffer consequences that could last a very long time. The show's host answered him very quickly, and very clearly: “If you act like you're taking Jesus with you everywhere you go, you won’t have any trouble.”

It's an easy answer, but it's the plain truth! If we acted like Jesus is tagging along with us everywhere we go, we wouldn’t get into half the trouble we do. Well, if you're a Christ follower, you are taking Jesus everywhere with you. He lives in your heart, so He's with you all the time. So, the next time you go into a place you shouldn’t be, or allow yourself to be entertained by things you shouldn’t see, or speak words you know you shouldn’t say... REMEMBER that you are bringing Jesus with you into those moments.

Yikes! I definitely need to be more mindful of this. I know in my past I've done something, said something, or gone somewhere that I wouldn't want Jesus to be a part of.

But we have good news, Jesus forgives our mistakes! He loves us so much; all He asks us to do is tell Him we're sorry. When we aren't living our best life for Him, He just wants us to talk with Him about it. God promises to never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5), and this includes when we are not at our best.
