Another Year

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14

How often do we hear someone say, "Another year has arrived... Yay!" In my case, it's almost never. I've even wondered, does anyone have that kind of enthusiasm about a brand-new year? I sometimes wish I could, because if we took God’s promises to heart, we would jump out of bed enthusiastically every morning!

This year is more than just another year. Stop and think about the sights you saw, the lives you influenced, the happiness and tears, the sadness and the celebrations, and so much more. But that chapter of your life was written last year. It’s how you left your mark; moments of time filled with hundreds of opportunities. Now, imagine how much better your story will be this year. If you could write out your life story from birth to death, what kind of life would you want it to be? Would it be a life worth living? Would it be a life focused on God, or would it be focused on you? Would your "story" be worth reading? All Christ followers must ask themselves this important question: Does my life story proclaim what God has done or what I have done?

For Christ followers, the Author of our life is Almighty God. He has already written our life story to completion. God has planned an incredible life for us, and it's filled with His very best! The life God authors is a life worth living, but He leaves "walking it out" up to us. None of us know our life story, but rest assured, God does. We read books one page at a time, and the best way to live life is one day at a time. Be patient, the author will reveal the next chapter of your life in His perfect timing. In the meantime, cherish each moment as a gift from God!

Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12

Christ Followers, let's live 2025 wisely. Move forward in God's power and live the life He planned for you victoriously. Have faith, be hopeful, and don't look back. Anticipate what God has in store for you enthusiastically!
