Why, God?

“Look at the nations and watch—and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.” Habakkuk 1:5
The best way to draw closer to God is by reading and studying His Word. Scripture says The Lord is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), and He changes not (Malachi 3:6). God's Word is where we learn about His promises and His Character. Studying His Word will build our faith and help us learn to take His promises to heart.
The book of Habakkuk reminds us to trust the Lord, even when we don’t understand why bad things are happening. Habakkuk had a lot of "whys", because he couldn't understand why evil things were happening to God’s people. Even though he saw God's people suffering, he never lost his faith of who God is. Habakkuk continued praying to God, even though violence and disorder were all around him. He prayed scripture because he knew God would hear and answer. When we're suffering, it’s okay to ask God "Why?", but we must stand on the truth of God’s Word. Don't try to interpret God’s Word by examining your circumstances, interpret your circumstances by examining God's Word!
The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you. Deuteronomy 33:27
Last year ago, I had a lot of “Whys” myself. Why was my husband’s heart attack, my dad’s stroke, my son's ICU stay, and the death of four family members all crammed into a three-month period of time? God uses our sorrows and sufferings to bring glory to His Name. When we face opposition, God’s strength will hold us up. Looking back now, I can see how God was working in each one of our family's difficult circumstances. All four of our parents received the Lord before they passed, doors were opened during hospital stays to present Jesus to others, and we had opportunities to talk about Jesus at those celebrations of life. Today, I am utterly amazed at what God has done and continues to do.
There's a study of Habakkuk called “Even If”, and it contains this quote: “Even if the worst possible thing happens in our lives, we have the Lord. In Him, we have all that we need….”
Our God is more than enough! When life gets hard, find joy by trusting God and the truths found in His Word.
